Our Pastor

Reverend Evan Dean Gray, Sr. is a native of Rockaway Beach, New York.

On February 28, 1982, Reverend Gray realized and acknowledged that he was called to preach the “gospel” of Jesus Christ. Hence, answering the call, his initial sermon was preached on Sunday, August 15, 1982 under the leadership of (the late) Reverend Dr. Julius Miller. Under the same leadership, Minister Gray became ordained Reverend on Sunday, January 15, 1989.

Reverend Evan Dean Gray, Sr. is the esteemed Pastor of the Macedonia Baptist Church of Arverne, NY for the past 30 years and he has the distinction of being  their longest serving pastor. 

He attended FAMU, Brooklyn College and The College of New Rochelle. 

During his years of service to the Lord, Reverend Gray’s ministry has taken on many different forms. He has preached locally, nationally and internationally. He has been involved with many community out-reach programs and services. 

He has served in Eastern Baptist Association of New York, Inc. as the Vice President of Queens County Ushers Auxiliary and served as an EBA Marshall. He also more recently served as the (immediate past) Chief of Staff for The Eastern Baptist Association of New York, Inc. and prior to that served for eight years as the Area Vice Moderator of Queens County.

Reverend Gray has established The Prophetic Baptist Church, in Allman Town, Eastern Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies.

He serves as Chairman of the Disaster Relief Commission, Empire Missionary Baptist Convention.

He is the Vice President of National Action Network (NAN), Far Rockaway, NY.

He is the President of the Macedonia Development Corp.

He received his Masters of Theology from the Macedonia International University. 

He is the husband of Lady Marcia A. Gray. He is the father of four children and the grandfather of two.

One of his favorite passages of scripture is “For when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, since I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!” (1 Corinthians 9:16 NIV)
